time
Apple, cherries, pears, plums and quinces are some of the hardy fruit trees that can be planted in autumn. They grow well until winter and, with optimal care, produce the first fruits as early as the following year. If the trees are bare-rooted, plant them directly after purchase by mid-March at the latest. For short-term storage, it is recommended to place it in a bucket filled with soil. Pot-balled fruit trees can be planted at any time during the season, provided you have good watering.

Location
Some fruit trees grow in partially shaded locations. The greater the sun exposure, the more aromatic the pulp tastes. At the same time, the vitamin content increases and the fruits color themselves optimally. Loose and humus soils offer optimal growth conditions. Waterlogging quickly forms in compacted subsoil, which is not beneficial for the woody plants. The ideal pH value is between 6.0 and 6.5.
method
After you have the Sward removed and dug a planting hole, cut the root tips with a clean and sharp one Secateurs away. This measure stimulates the formation of new roots. Put the tree in the hole and check that the planting depth is sufficient. The trees should not be planted too deep. The original ground level was where the bark appears lighter.
Ground preparations:
- Sandy soils with humus or enrich bentonite
- improve clay or loamy substrates with sand
- Plant hole sole with Digging fork loosen up
- Work compost into the substrate
Position the fruit tree and stake
If the hole depth has been adjusted, set the tree stake about four to six inches west of the trunk. In Central Europe, the west is the main wind direction. The stake is hammered into the ground with a sledgehammer. Fill the excavation into the planting hole and tamp down the substrate. Form a watering edge and water the wood thoroughly. A coconut rope is used to attach the trunk to the post.
