Lavender against flies in the garden

You are sure to know the intense scent of lavender. It should have a calming effect and even help you fall asleep. You can also find restful sleep if you are not disturbed by annoying flies. Location

Lavender comes from the warm countries of the Mediterranean and therefore prefers sunny locations. He also feels most comfortable in a sheltered location. The southern orientation on the lee side of a wall is therefore ideal for cultivating the plant. It is up to you whether you place the plant directly in the bed or in a pot.

Lavender against flies in the house

Only as a houseplant is lavender difficult to cultivate. Nevertheless, you can also use its components indoors.

  1. Brush off a few flowers.
  2. Let them dry in a warm place.
  3. Fill a sock or a small bag with the dried flowers.
  4. Hang this in a dry place.

You can also get lavender oil in health food stores or drugstores, which has the same effect.

  • Spread the oil around the room with a spray bottle.
  • Put the oil in a Fragrance lamp.
  • Drizzle a little oil on curtains or other objects (be careful of staining!)

Tips

As already mentioned above, lavender is ideally suited for container culture. In this form, the plant can be placed on the windowsill in a narrow flower pot or in a balcony box. This location is particularly effective because it allows you to open the window for a long time in summer. The scent of the plant prevents the flies from entering the house. In addition, this insect screen looks a lot nicer than a fly screen in front of the window pane.
