Annual and perennial hot peppers
An annual plant will not bear fruit in the coming year. For a harvest yield you need to raise a new plant in January. You can use the seeds of the old hot peppers for this. In the case of perennial specimens, wintering is very worthwhile.
Kind of attitude
In terms of wintering, potted plants have the clear advantage of mobility. Place the pot in a bright place, for example on the windowsill. Planted hot peppers need to be carefully dig up and put in a pot. Temperatures of approx. 10 ° C. There is only sparse watering.
Check for pest infestation
Before you bring your hot peppers indoors, you should carefully check them for pests or disease. You should place damaged plants separately to prevent the pest from spreading. With appropriate means, you will be able to fight the disease. These should definitely be approved for indoor use.
Prepare the peppers for spring
When spring approaches, increase the growth of the plant by cutting the side branches back to 3 cm in February. Fresh earth also makes a big contribution. In May, when ground frost is no longer to be expected, your peppers can go outside again.
