April beauties for the balcony box
In April, the hour for native natural hybrids strikes, which will guide us into early summer with their flowers. We recommend charming elven flowers (Epimedium grandiflorum) with pretty, bluish-white flowers. Rustic cow puffs (Pulsatilla vulgaris) cause a sensation when their red or white bowl blossoms unfold. The yellow flowers of the enchanting cowslip (Primula veris) shine in competition with the April sun.

On the balcony on the north side of the house is the refuge of shadow bells (Pieris japonica). The 'Purity' variety delights with elegantly overhanging white flower panicles. Together with the pink flowering variety 'Valley Valentine', spring-fresh color contrasts emerge in April and May in low-light locations.
Tips
From mid-April, all balcony plants that grow in the basement, cellar have overwintered. Before the Mediterranean and exotic perennials take their place in the sun, they need to acclimate. A sudden change from the inside of the house to the sunny balcony space inevitably causes leaf damage through sunburn. Only a 14-day stay in the sheltered place Penumbra prevents this dilemma.
