It doesn't work without a building permit

A Garden shed,(€ 39.99 at Amazon *) that is bricked, requires a building permit in any case. It can often be read that even these houses do not require approval up to a certain volume, but such information is incorrect. For such a house you need a full-surface foundation, so it is always subject to approval.

Blueprint

This must be properly dimensioned and contain all the necessary details. As a rule, proof of the load-bearing capacity is also required. It is therefore advisable to have the construction plan drawn up by an architect.

The foundation

So that the little house is stable, a full-surface foundation is necessary. An old bricklayer's basic rule says that this must be about three times as thick as the wall thickness for sufficient stability. It is therefore advisable to use an excavator as an aid in large houses.

Pull up walls

To make the wall really straight, do the following:

  • The first layer of stones is placed in a thick bed of mortar. Align the bricks very precisely.
  • Tighten the guide line in every row in order to guarantee the exact position of the stone.
  • Frequent checks with the plumb bob ensure that the wall does not get crooked. A sense of proportion is by no means sufficient here.
  • In order to transfer forces, the wall must be adequately tied.
  • In the area of windows and doors, wooden frames are used, which are covered with U-profiles.
  • The top of the wall also consists of U-profiles, which are then reinforced and filled with concrete.
