Location and planting time set the course

So that the tulips join the grasses in springtime, there is no lack of sunlight. Therefore, only then designate a green area Tulip meadowwhen this is on a sunny and warm Location is located. Furthermore, it should neither be a dry nor a Wet meadow Act. Ideally, the soil is fresh, humic and sandy-loamy.

The tulip bulbs take their place in the green from mid-October at the earliest. The soil temperature should be 10 degrees Celsius and less so that the flower bulbs do not sprout prematurely.

Two planting techniques to choose from - elegant or shirt-sleeved

The nature of the green area and the number of tulip bulbs to be planted determine the planting technique. Does the tulip meadow act as a lawn for the rest of the year or does the natural character remain? Accordingly, we recommend one of the following two approaches:

Variant 1: Artfully elegant

• The sod with the spade Cut off in a U-shape
• Fold down the green to loosen up the soil with the rake
• Dig plant pits at a distance of 10-15 cm
• Insert tulip bulbs so deep that the soil layer is twice as high as the size of the bulbs
• First water and then close the sod again and press it down

Variant 2: Robust shirt-sleeved

• Use an iron rod to make holes 12-15 cm deep in the meadow
• Insert the tulip bulbs with the tip up
• With looser Compost soil fill, press down and pour

The tulip meadow is just as easy to care for. The rainy spring time makes watering superfluous. If you work a little compost into the soil as part of the planting process, the nutrient supply is ensured. It is important to note that you should be patient with mowing until the leaves are completely drawn in.
