Do you need to cut the monkey tree?
If possible, you shouldn't use an araucaria at all cut. A cut destroys the shape and prevents the development of new shoots.
If you absolutely have to cut, always shorten branches directly on the trunk and do not leave any stubs. It is only cut in warm, dry weather.

Araucarias in the bucket are overwintered in a light, frost-free place. Water little and do not fertilize during winter.
Tips
In contrast to other conifers, the araucaria prefers bright locations that may like to be sunny. However, the needles are troubled by strong winter sun.
