Pinch early
Start peeling off young and freshly exposed rose bushes. If you do without the measure, individual long main shoots often develop, on which isolated flower buds are enthroned. You can cut old roses and rebuild, whereby the plant does not bloom again until the next year.

The ideal time
You should not wait too long before the procedure so that the plant can invest its energy in developing the new shoots. If you shorten the stems before they are lignified, you can take corrective action on the growth. The cut date is just before flowering and should not be done after mid-May. It takes about six weeks for the rose plants to be in front of the bud opening again.
Spring cut
Pinching roses ensures that the wood multiplies its number of shoots. Therefore, the method is also suitable for one to two-shoot plants, which then grow bushier and form more flowers. Even historical varieties that only develop green shoots and should shine again in their old splendor can tolerate this cut. In the next season these specimens will appear much more splendid.
method
As soon as the plant stems are 20 centimeters high, shorten them down to one or two pairs of leaves. If the rose allows it, select about every fourth shoot and leave the rest of the plant mass untouched. With this trick, the bushes bloom for a longer period of time because their buds open at different times.
Difference to conventional cuts
When tweezing, gardeners peel off the still herbaceous and not lignified shoots while they are already in the growth phase. It is important that the branch is not lignified but rather soft. In this way, the growth can be controlled in the same year and you do not lose an entire season in order to enjoy a lush flowering.
Summer cut
If flowering varieties grow more often in your garden, you should resort to scissors again during the summer months. Brush off dead flowers directly to prevent them from developing into rose hips and instead the plant will form new buds. You can expect the next bloom after four to six weeks.
Hybrid or shrub roses
at Hybrid tea varieties cut off the withered shoots along with two leaves. Clump-flowered roses are more prone to wood build-up if you cut them back too much. Cap the withered inflorescences under the first leaf.
