The adult butterfly lays its eggs so far only on the boxwood, which from mid-March onwards hatching caterpillars are initially only located inside the bush and eat the whole from here Plant bare. • From temperatures of approx. ten degrees Celsius active
  • Ideally, vacuum with a leaf blower, a high-pressure device or a vacuum cleaner
  • Pull the bushes apart and cut out webs

This occurs especially when the leaves of the boxwood, for example, due to incorrect watering or prolonged rain practically "softened": the pathogen needs wet leaves to get into them to penetrate. After infection, the fungus spreads rapidly at temperatures of 25 ° C and more. You can prevent the disease by

  • make sure that the leaves are not permanently wet
  • the boxwood is in an airy location where moisture can dry off quickly
  • The pressure of infestation is also lower in sunny locations
  • Do not water the boxwood from above, only from below
  • As a preventive measure, you can treat healthy plants with a suitable fungicide
  • Duaxo Universal Mushroom-Free from Compo, for example, is suitable for this

Tips

If the box is infected with the dieback, you should cut back vigorously into the healthy wood and then treat it with the fungicide mentioned above. Plant residues and leaves must be swept from the ground, and the top layer of soil should be removed and replaced with fresh substrate.
