Location with nutrient-rich substrate
Peaches need plenty of nutrients, nitrogen and potassium in particular are essential for healthy tree and fruit growth. Plant your peach tree in a humus-rich Garden soilwho if necessary with humus should be enriched. Since young trees are very sensitive, fertilizers should be avoided in the first year of standing. For this, however, the young peach needs plenty of water and should be watered regularly, especially in summer. However, waterlogging should be avoided.

Maintenance measures from the second year of use
Finally, in the second year, you can use ripe compost or manure from February / March fertilize. From May onwards, fertilizers should then be given once a month and continued into September. After all, there is no fertilization in winter. Combine fertilization with plenty of watering. This is especially important if you are using chemical fertilizers as it otherwise to root burns may occur due to a chemical reaction.
Suitable fertilizers for peaches
For the fertilization of peaches (as well as other types of fruit) you should preferably choose organic fertilizers, because all additives are enriched in the fruits. For healthy growth and abundant fruiting, peaches primarily need nitrogen and potassium. Suitable fertilizers are
- House manure (poultry manure is particularly rich in nitrogen!)
- Horn shavings
- ripe compost
- alternatively fruit fertilizer
- or a nitrogen fertilizer containing potassium.
Water the peaches properly
In the first year in particular, young peach trees should be watered regularly. However, since the plants are very sensitive to lime, you should preferably use rainwater. If you don't have the ability to collect it, just let tap water stand for about a week. In this case, however, do not pour off the calcareous sediment. Older peaches can usually provide themselves with water, only plants kept in pots should continue to be watered.
Tips & Tricks
Furthermore, you don't have to prune your young peach tree in the first year. The first cut takes place in the autumn of the second year. Peaches can be pruned after the harvest in autumn, but also in spring.
