It depends on the situation
In the wine-growing regions, especially on the Lower Moselle, it has been around since the 16th Century tradition of growing the so-called vineyard peaches. But others too Peach varieties have been thriving in the German regions for a very long time. These include, for example, the foothill peach (also known as Roter Ellerstädter or Kernechter vom Vorgebirge) or the Anneliese Rudolph variety, which has now become quite rare. In principle, you can also keep peaches in a bucket, which is particularly recommended for young trees due to their sensitivity. Ensure the right soil quality
Peaches also need loose, humus-rich soil. Heavy, loamy and wet soils are not suitable. Since peaches have a high need for nutrients, they have to be fertilized regularly - nitrogen in particular is important, but not too much. An excess can weaken the tree and cause disease.
There is no general answer to this question because the sensitivity to frost differs from variety to variety. Older peach trees in particular are, however, quite insensitive and can be covered with fleece or sackcloth and thus protected in very cold temperatures. For cultivation in the German climate suitable varieties are:

Some varieties can also tolerate a harsher climate outside of the wine-growing regions, but not all of them. The white-fleshed peaches in particular are quite robust.
