This is how red clover multiplies
On the one hand, red clover reproduces through the seeds that ripen in the pods of the legume. On the other hand, the long taproot forms many runners from which new plants sprout.

At a cheap Location Red clover reproduces all by itself, so much that you can hardly get the weeds out of the garden.
The seeds are scattered in all directions as the pods pop open, so you can find new seedlings all over the garden. The roots are so robust that even the smallest remains can be used to create new plants.
Growing new plants from seeds
To grow red clover in the garden yourself, you can propagate it from seeds, runners or by dividing roots. Red clover propagation is possible from April to September.
For red clover propagation through sowing sprinkle the seeds on a growing bed with normal garden soil. Red clover can also be sown in a pot. However, the pot must be as deep as possible.
Red clover is a light germ and is not covered with earth. Keep the seeds moist but not too wet.
Propagate red clover through runners
Root division is unnecessary with red clover. The plant forms so many runners that you can simply cut out as many as you need.
Put them in loose garden soil or a pot prepared with garden soil. The planting distance should be 20 centimeters.
Red clover propagation on a large scale
Red clover is grown for agriculture. The plant is used for various purposes:
- Green manure
- fodder
- Ornamental plant
- Weeds
- Medicinal plant
In order to gain large quantities of new seeds, red clover is sown and not propagated via root division. The seeds are specially selected for the respective application. Red clover seeds for fodder or Green manure is not suitable for breeding Sprouts.
Tips
The flowers and leaves of red clover are edible. If you are fond of flower salads and vegetable soups eat or if you are looking for a nice decoration for vegetable platters, the red or pink flowers of the red clover are a good alternative.
