When is the flowering time for money trees?

The flowering period of a money tree begins in late winter or spring.

The tree forms flowers that are usually white or pink in color and show the shape of a star. They are up to 15 millimeters in size.

A young money tree is not yet in bloom. Only when the plant is several years old and has reached a height of over 40 centimeters does it set on inflorescences.

Take outdoors in summer

The most important prerequisite for a money tree to bloom are different temperatures in summer and winter. This is the only way to stimulate the flowering of the penny tree.

A very good way of making a money tree bloom is to put it outside over the summer, for example in a warm, sunny place on the balcony or terrace. This automatically makes the necessary changes in temperature.

As soon as it gets too cool outside, the money tree has to be brought back inside because it is not hardy. It does not tolerate temperatures below five degrees.

Cool location in winter

You cannot care for a money tree in the flower window all year round because it is simply too warm there in winter. Put it in a place that is very bright but sufficiently cool.

The ideal temperatures in winter are around 11 degrees. The money tree must also be kept quite dry at this time.

Many gardening enthusiasts swear by keeping a money tree as cool and dry as possible in winter maintain. The often held view that money trees belong to the short-day plants and must therefore be placed in the dark is incorrect. If you keep a money tree too dark, the shoots will spoil. This does not stimulate flower formation.
