All places where the triple flower is cool, frost-free and as bright as possible are suitable:
- Winter garden
- Stairwell
- Corridor window
- light cellar
- Glasshouse
The temperatures should be between three and twelve degrees. Gradually get the triple flower used to the cooler surroundings. The cooling forces the plant to shut down its metabolism. It then gets by with less light.
Be careful when watering and fertilizing
to water Only moderate the triplet flower during the winter. The drier it is kept during the winter, the greater the abundance of flowers in the next year. The root ball should just be damp. Waterlogging is the biggest problem when overwintering. It is only poured when the surface of the substrate has dried out. You have to pour off excess water immediately.
If the bougainvillea is cool, it does not receive any fertilizer in winter. If you have to overwinter it in a warmer place, give it some liquid fertilizer once a month.
Due to the lack of light, the triple flower loses most of its leaves in a cool location. But that is no cause for concern.
Tips
You can also overwinter a triple flower indoors in warm temperatures if you have no other option. The bougainvillea then keeps all the leaves. However, there is a risk that they will be little or no afterwards not blooming.
