The right time
If you are growing yourself, it is advisable to first grow the harlequin willow in a special growing pot on the windowsill. Thanks to the rapid growth, which is a typical feature of the tree genus, new shoots appear on the cuttings after a short time. So that the harlequin willow can now develop its full splendor of leaves and flowers, you should put it outdoors or in a bucket in the fresh air. This ideally happens in the summer months from March to October. Make sure that young plants and pot cultures are susceptible to frost. You are therefore on the safe side if you wait for the ice saints in May.

Transplant Harlequin Willow
Although a harlequin willow unfortunately does not tolerate transplanting so well, it tolerates the procedure
meta: Would you like to plant a harlequin willow in your garden? In order for your sapling to develop well, you should pay attention to the appropriate time. You should take a few steps in advance:
- Half a year before transplanting, dig a trench around the harlequin willow.
- Fill this with compost.
- Thus you strengthen the root formation.
- When digging, be careful not to damage the roots as much as possible.
- For transplanting the harlequin willow, choose a frost-free, cloudy day in October.
The harlequin willow is replanted in autumn because it is no longer in the growth phase at this time of the year. Because it does not have to muster any strength to shoot, it can get used to the new circumstances better.
