The regulation of the water balance is the greatest challenge in the care of orchids. This also applies to the Phalaenopsis orchid, which you can buy at discount stores and hardware stores. • Use a disinfected knife to cut off any dead roots
  • Air roots and leaves that are still green must not be cut off
  • Fill a glass vessel with filtered rainwater
  • Place the orchid in it so that the tip of the trunk or the ends of the roots lightly touch the water level
  • Renew the water at least once a week

Orchid soil. Only when a new, strong system of aerial roots has developed, you pot the rescued orchid into normal pine bark substrate. Until then, of course, it will take several months to a year.

Saving orchids without leaves - this is how the plan works

Throws an orchid in the middle of the season all sheets from, the hopes for a further heyday are gone. If you can rule out that it is a natural vegetation cycle - different orchid species regularly shed all leaves - we recommend the following rescue measures:

  • As long as there are still one or two aerial roots left, there is hope
  • Cut off any existing flower stalks because they take too much strength
  • Spend the leafless orchid in a bright, warm window seat
  • Spray daily with soft water and water very sparingly
  • Every 2 to 3 weeks fertilize with liquid orchid fertilizer

Give the orchid a few weeks and months to regain its strength. If you lack the power for a new leaf dress, it will at least produce one offshoot. The Kindel thrives near the trunk. If the offspring has at least 2 of their own aerial roots and leaves, they can be separated and nursed in their own pot.
