Pressing and drying petals - this is how it works
The most beautiful Varieties of tulips present us with magnificent, fringed or ruffled petals. In order to enjoy this floral beauty for a long time or to use it as creative handicraft material, the flowers are pressed and dried without further ado. This is how it works:
- Spread out the undamaged petals individually on kitchen paper and let them dry for a day
- Then place between parchment or sandwich paper in a thick book
- Ideally, stack more thick tomes on top of the book press to increase the pressure
- Change the parchment or sandwich paper on top every 4 to 5 days
Telephone books, dictionaries or encyclopedias are suitable as flower presses. Please only choose a book where it is not a problem if the pages could curl due to the leakage of moisture. After a few weeks, the tulip petals will be completely dry and flat. Using tweezers, carefully peel the flowers off the parchment paper to use them in the shape you want.
