Plant gladiolus bulbs

When planting, do the following:
- Remove weeds from the soil and loosen it well.
- Some ripe compost and Horn shavings(€ 32.93 at Amazon *) work into the earth.
- Dig the planting hole.
- In loamy or clay soils, put some sand into the small pit as drainage.
- Place the onions in the soil with the vegetation point (germination point) facing up.

How deep is it planted?
If gladioli are to bloom very early, you can let the germination point protrude from the earth. However, the onion cannot grow in as well and usually needs additional support to prevent it from tipping over.
The optimal planting depth is twice the bulb diameter. If you don't want to do without early flowering, you can drive the bulbs indoors.
The correct planting distance
So that gladioli come into their own, you should plant them in small groups. Don't place the bulbs too tightly so that the gladioli have enough space to unfold. A planting distance of 10 to 15 centimeters is ideal. This depends on the height of the gladiolus and is usually noted on the plant packaging.
Tips
Be careful when buying Gladiolus bulbs ensure that these are large and firm and have not yet sprouted. Since the onions have no soil available, they have to use up part of their nutrient supply, they grow poorly and often no longer bloom.
