Buy seeds or harvest them yourself
The seeds of the Globe thistle you can get it in every well-stocked gardening specialist. Alternatively, you can use seeds from your own plant. Cut off the inflorescences that have just blown off and carefully shake out the seeds. Store the seeds until sowing cool and dry.

When do you sow?
The best time to sow is in March or April. The spherical thistle is a cold and warm germ and therefore makes no special demands on the ambient temperature.
Sowing the globe thistle
Although spherical thistles can also be sown directly in the field, sowing in seed boxes is recommended. Proceed as follows:
- Bowls with Potting soil to fill.
- Make grooves with a wooden stick.
- Carefully place the seeds in the grooves.
- Cover with earth, as Echinops is one of the dark germs.
- Moisten the substrate with a sprayer.
- Place the lid on the seed box, but do not close it completely.
The first plants will appear after about twenty days. As soon as these have reached a height of about ten centimeters, the spherical thistle is pricked out in rows.
Transplant outdoors
In order for the plants to flourish, it is advisable to cultivate them in small pots in the first year and only to transplant them to their final location in autumn. Cover the small spherical thistles with some sticks or Plant fleece as the young plants are sensitive to frost.
Care of the young plants
Echinops is a very frugal plant that does little care needed. It should only be watered sparingly if the soil feels really dry. There is no need to fertilize in the first year.
Tips
In a suitable location, the spherical thistle often reproduces by self-sowing, provided that you leave the flower heads on the plant after it has bloomed.
