Usually roses are through the so-called inoculating refined. Only a single eye cut out of the rose to be refined and transplanted into the documents. With grafting, on the other hand, an entire shoot is transplanted, which of course has been freed from all leaves and flowers beforehand. There are various techniques for this, of which we would like to bring you closer to one that is particularly promising.

Grafting a rose - that's how it's done

First of all, choose a suitable mat, especially healthy and robust ones Wild rose species with long and stable roots are possible. This base is severely cut back.

  • Now cut a cutting from the hybrid tea rose to be propagated.
  • These have several buds.
  • Put the cutting in the water for several hours.
  • Now select a bud and cut deep into the wood just above it.
  • Now guide the blade down behind the bud,
  • creating a section about two to three centimeters long.
  • Carefully separate this from the cutting.
  • Now make a flat counter-cut on the base,
  • where you only cut open the bark of the wood.
  • Cut a "T" here too, i. H. a vertical and a horizontal section.
  • These should be about as long as the cut out part of the hybrid tea.
  • Now put the plug in the resulting slot,
  • the bud should be facing up and out.
  • Connect the finishing carefully (ex. B. with a special rubber band for finishing).

If all goes well, the area will heal within a few days. To do this, however, you have to work very carefully and, above all, use clean and sharp tools. Are ideal next to one Secateurs, for example razor blades.

Tips

Roses should always be grafted in summer, as this is when the chance of growing is greatest. If possible, carry out the measure in the late afternoon so that the treated plant is not exposed to the blazing sun immediately, but can instead recover overnight.
