Why prick beetroot?

It is not uncommon for gardeners to be surprised when only half of their seeds come up in spring. When to prick beetroot?

Beetroot is pricked when the plants are big enough to be able to pack them well, but not yet so big that it has formed deep roots and tangles with other plants to have. This is the case when the plant is about one to two inches tall, which is about three to four weeks after sowing should be the case.

How to prick beetroot?
