Only young plants are protected and overwintered

Harvest a rich harvest at the right location

The ideal location for the goji berry in the garden offers the following location factors:

  • lots of light
  • a lot of warmth
  • a well-drained, well-ventilated soil
  • no waterlogging
  • a humic substrate (possibly with seasoned compost as Long-term fertilization enriched)

Under these conditions, the goji berry basically needs little care and usually sets numerous from the second or third year blossoms and fruits.

Make sure there is sufficient distance when planting

Since goji berries grow quickly and vigorously, around one square meter of space in the berry garden should be allowed for per plant. Between two bushes should be at the planting so a distance of about two meters must be maintained. In order to get a grip on the relatively far overhanging branches of the plants, they can also be tied to a trellis similar to blackberry tendrils.

Tips

The goji berry, like the sea buckthorn, is known to thrive even on slightly salty soils near the coast.
