Here's how to prepare the coconut for freezing

After opening the coconut, peel the pulp from the shell. To do this, use a kitchen knife. There is still a brown skin on the flesh. It is indeed edible, but not nice to look at in every dish. However, it can be easily removed with a vegetable peeler.

Now grate the pulp of your coconut with a kitchen grater. Coarse rasps are suitable for most uses. Rasp that are too fine tend to clump and stick in the sieve when thawing. In addition, they lose their taste more easily than coarse rasps.

Thaw the desiccated coconut

To thaw, it is best to put the desiccated coconut in a sieve and collect the escaping liquid in a bowl. You can easily use these for baking or cooking, but you may then need fewer other liquids. Don't leave your desiccated coconut in the freezer or freezer for too long. Since they are very fatty, they could otherwise go rancid.
