Copulation: Refine easily and safely
This popular method takes place during the vegetation break in late winter. However, it is only used if the rice and the base are similar in size: at least as thick as a finger. Furthermore, both should be botanically related.
Important:
You will need a sharp copulating knife for this purpose. Regular regrinding is recommended. In addition, a long blade is considered advantageous.
Noble rice:
- 10 to 15 inches long

Sequence:

- remove all leaves (leave petioles)
- Base and noble rice: provided with a cut of four to six centimeters (pulling)
- Cut: oblique or straight

Attention risk of infection:
Avoid touching the interface, as the tree can get sick this way.

Note:
If leaves or side shoots grow on the rootstock after grafting, they must be removed immediately. If the petiole does not fall off, this can be an indication that the copulation has not succeeded.
