Grow autumn raspberries in the garden

Growing fall raspberries in the garden has some advantages over growing summer raspberries.

You don't need to have a lot of previous knowledge in order to reap the benefits. The shrubs are easy to care for and less prone to disease.

Above all, however, the fruits are rarely attacked by maggots. The dreaded raspberry beetle is only active in spring, so autumn raspberries do not suffer from this plague.

Autumn raspberries - care tips

The care of autumn raspberries is far less laborious than that of summer raspberries.

While summer raspberries produce the fruit only on the two-year-old canes, autumn raspberries bear on the annual wood. Autumn raspberries can therefore be cut down completely before winter. This makes them resistant to the dreaded rod disease.

Since autumn raspberries usually do not get that high, they usually do not need to be tied. A framework is then not necessary.

Tips & Tricks

If you want freshness not only in autumn, but also in summer Harvest raspberries choose a two-timer cultivar such as "Sugana". It produces two harvests. Due to its smaller growth, this cultivation is also ideally suited for growing in pots.
