Propagating Frangipani - Cuttings or Seeds?

Frangipani can be propagated in two ways: Either you cut Cuttings from an existing plant or you sow Seeds the end.

Growing from cuttings is much easier and much faster. Cuttings taken from cuttings often bloom in the first year, while propagated from seeds Plumeria in three years at the earliest blossoms developed.

When growing from seeds, it is a coincidence which flower color the frangipani will later have. Cuttings give you the peace of mind that you are getting an exact copy of the mother plant.

Grow frangipani from cuttings

• Cut woody shoots as cuttings
• Let the interface dry for several days
• put in water glass or
• in pots with Potting soil put
• set up bright and warm
• Repot after rooting

It is best to cut the cuttings in spring. They should have a length of 25 centimeters each.

When propagating in a glass of water, the shoots must be about five centimeters deep in the water. The water should be changed every other day. If you want to put the cuttings in potting soil right away, use a mixture of coconut fiber as a substrate,

Put the cuttings in a very bright, warm place. They do not tolerate direct sun. Cuttings rooted in a water glass are repotted as soon as the roots are two to three centimeters long.

How to sow frangipani

• Let the seeds pre-soak
• Sow in prepared potting soil
• alternatively sow in the germination bag
• cover only lightly with soil
• Carefully moisten the substrate
• Cover with plastic wrap
• Keep light and warm until emergence

For propagation in the seed tray, use as Substrate potting soil mixed with sand or coconut fiber. Fill the germ bag with perlite.

It takes two to five weeks for the seeds to emerge.
