What is special about manure?

Initially, plant manure serves to improve the natural soil, because fermentation of the plant material releases nitrogen, nutrients and trace elements. It is not only plants such as tomatoes and cabbage that benefit from the fast-acting fertilizer, which like additional nitrogen-rich fertilizers during the growing season.

Basic recipe for herbal manure

ingredients

  • 1 kg of fresh or 200 g of dried wild herbs
  • 10 liters of water, preferably rainwater
  • 2 handfuls of primary rock flour

Utils

  • Sufficiently large containers made of plastic, clay or wood
  • Cover in the form of a grid or lid
  • Stick to stir

Metal vessels are unsuitable as the chemical reaction disrupts fermentation.

Manufacturing

  1. Put the plant material roughly chopped into the fermentation vessel.
  2. Pour the water over them.
  3. Rock flour,(€ 12.33 at Amazon *) that reduces the odor pollution, sprinkle over it.
  4. Place in a warm, sunny place. Here the fermentation process begins within 48 hours. You can recognize this by the foam formation.
  5. Since the supply of oxygen promotes fermentation, stir daily.

Fermentation is completed after about two weeks. The liquid manure is now dark in color and no longer foams.

Use of herbal manure

The liquid manure is diluted in a ratio of 1:10 before it is applied. Pour the fertilizer around the plants in the root area, if possible in the early morning or evening. Avoid wetting the leaves as the high nutrient content could damage them.

For spraying, dilute the plant manure in a ratio of 1:50 and apply the filtered agent with a sprayer, preferably on a rain-free but cloudy day.

Tips

Plant manure is also a great activator for the compost heap.
