Organic fertilizers satisfy the great hunger for nutrients

If a compost heap is not available, hobby gardeners turn to natural alternatives. Certified organic products are available in specialist shops for the supply of nutrients. They are composed, for example, of beet pulp, Horn meal and microorganisms. In addition, seaweed juice is making a name for itself as an effective fertilizer.
Nitrogen-stressed only after that harvest fertilize
After the end of the rhubarb season, nitrogen becomes more important for the supply of nutrients. The plant should now regenerate and gather strength for the next year. You should give preference to the following organic fertilizers from the end of June:
- Herbal manure from nettles, comfrey, field horsetail

Regular Fertilize with compost costs strength. It applies to the heavyweight material on the wheelbarrow to shovel, to transport to the rhubarb and to work into the ground. Inventive hobby gardeners therefore plant their rhubarb in the immediate vicinity of the compost heap.
Tips & Tricks
If you can't start harvesting early enough, you can surround your rhubarb with a thick layer of well-seasoned horse manure from January / February. The natural material not only gives off plenty of nutrients, but also warms the soil so effectively that, with a little luck, the first stalks can be harvested as early as March.
