Location and directions:

If you are traveling by car, you should head for one of the surrounding multi-storey car parks, as there are only a very limited number of parking spaces on the street. It is therefore advisable to use public transport. All the entrances to the park can be reached in a few minutes from the stops.

There is a sufficient number of parking spaces for bicycles not far from the entrances. In the park itself, the bike has to be pushed out of consideration for the other visitors.

description

This green lung of Hamburg covers an area of 45 hectares. Spacious green areas are pleasantly shaded by impressive trees. Beautifully laid out plant borders and flower beds structure the area and ensure a varied design. Lakes and babbling brooks run through the park and create islands of relaxation. The many seating furniture, often placed in particularly quiet, secluded places, is not only used by the employees of the surrounding companies for relaxation.

Integrated into the park is Europe's largest Japanese garden, an island of tranquility in the middle of the urban jungle designed according to the rules of Asian garden art. Rose and apothecary gardens with their variety of scents and colors are further visitor magnets. Lovers of exotic plants will get their money's worth in the show greenhouses. The civic gardens with their seasonally changing appearance invite you to stroll and linger.

Tips

The spacious playgrounds, equipped with a wide variety of devices, are extremely popular with children of all ages. You can do your laps free of charge on Germany's largest open-air ice rink, which turns into a skate rink in summer. Mini golf, trampoline and outdoor chess complete the sporting offer for the whole family.
