The Kiel Botanical Garden is open all year round. With the exception of the special events, the visit is free of charge.

Please note that dogs are not allowed on the grounds of the Botanical Garden.

in your navigation system. You will find the “Bremerskamp” car park near the entrance to Leibnizstrasse.

If you prefer public transport, use bus lines 50, 60S or 81 and get off at the terminus “Botanischer Garten”.

The Kiel Botanical Garden is located on the new Veloroute 10. Leave this at the northern end and continue along the Olof-Palme-Damm you will get directly to the “Entrance towards Westring”, where you will find bike racks.

The Kiel Botanical Garden invites you to take long walks through the approximately ten kilometer network of paths. Travel with just a few steps through the abundance of plants on earth and discover next to the exotic Asia, Africa and America grows the diversity of our native moors, forests, dunes and Heathland.

The heat-loving plants of the desert and tropical regions have found their home in greenhouses. Numerous thrive here Fern species, ancient Cycads, Orange and lemon trees. In the spacious medicinal garden you can get to know and smell a wide variety of herbs and their effects.

Tips

Located in the far north, the Alpinum of the Kiel Botanical Garden is home to over 2,500 mountain plant species. In addition to alpine plants, these are plants that are native to the Himalayas, the Caucasus, South Africa and New Zealand.
