Apple 'Berleis': Everything about the protected variety

The German apple variety Berleis is a cross of “Berlepsch” x “Roter Eiser” and has been under plant variety protection since the end of 2008. The fruits can be picked from the beginning of October to mid-October and are ripe for consumption from December to June. Berleis does not place high demands on its location and is also storm-proof. Its resistance to common diseases and rot makes it a very popular table apple that is suitable for all forms of cultivation.

  • Medium to large fruits; medium to heavily ribbed
  • Skin smooth and greasy; Basic color green-yellow with an appealing red to dark red covering color
  • Firm, aromatic and slightly sweeter than the mother variety Roter Berlepsch
  • Resistant to scab, powdery mildew and no twig or fruit monilia
  • Avoided by aphids and codling moths.
  • Does not require insecticide and pesticide sprays

I studied agricultural science in beautiful Weihenstephan. In addition to gardening (I mainly grow vegetables and herbs), my heart beats especially for the animal world. No matter if dog, guinea pig, hedgehog or bee - everyone should feel comfortable in my garden.

Favorite fruits: watermelons and raspberries
