Dear garden friend, dear garden friend,

We are very pleased that you have chosen our Plantura parasitic wasps to combat the clothes moths! This means that you have a reliable and chemical-free means at hand to put an end to the pests. Ichneumon wasps are the natural antagonist of moths and are completely harmless to humans and pets. In the following, we have bundled the most frequent and most important questions that will guide you successfully through the parasitic wasp operation.

How does it all actually work?

Ichneumon wasps are the ideal natural helpers against moths. Trichogramma parasitic wasps are extremely small and can hardly be seen with the naked eye. They are just 0.3-0.4 mm in size.

The parasitic wasps parasitize the eggs of the moths, which means that the parasitic wasps accurately track down the moth eggs and lay their own eggs in them. As a result, the moth egg cannot develop any further and dies. The next generation of moths is thus controlled.

Ichneumon wasps are a chemical-free and extremely effective method of combating clothes moths. In addition, parasitic wasps are harmless to humans and pets. Parasitic wasps do not cause any damage to your clothing or other textiles. Ichneumon wasps cannot sting because they do not have a stinging tool and are so small that you will not notice they are being used.

tip: With our Plantura clothes moth traps recognize a moth infestation at an early stage and can also monitor how many moths are still on the way during control.

What to do with the cards

Basically, a parasitic wasp card covers an area of around one square meter or a closed shelf such as a drawer or a cupboard. In your bedroom, it depends a little on where you store contaminated clothing. If these are widely distributed, more cards have to be laid out.
A little tip: put all of your woolen sweaters in one compartment instead of all over the closet.

Garments that are often attacked by clothes moths:

  • Wool sweater
  • Furs

Garments that are not attacked by clothes moths:

  • Cotton t-shirts
  • Clothing made from synthetic fibers

Moth larvae only eat animal textiles and not cotton or synthetic fibers; Holes in T-shirts are caused by mechanical stress.

We would be very happy if you could use our Plantura parasitic wasps against clothes moths

Thank you in advance for your support! 👍

How is it going on now?

Our Plantura ichneumon wasp cards contain 2000 ichneumon wasps per card. As already mentioned, the parasitic wasps are in different stages of growth. This ensures that the entire period (i.e. until the next delivery arrives) is covered. Since clothes moths have a longer cycle than food moths, you will receive 6 instead of 4 deliveries from us.

When will I be moth-free again?

That depends on the type and severity of the infestation. As such, an infestation is only considered to have been fought when the last surviving moths lay their eggs. If these are then parasitized by the parasitic wasps, there will be no new generation. In heated rooms it takes about 10 to 12 weeks (i.e. one generation cycle of the moths) until you are moth-free again. Correct and continuous use is important here!
For further control, we recommend setting up moth traps that reliably indicate an infestation with food and clothing moths.

What happens to the ichneumon wasps after they are used?

Ichneumon wasps live for about 3 to 7 days at room temperatures. If there are no more moth eggs, the beneficial insects die and, due to their tiny size, literally disintegrate into dust. Wipe the shelves neatly with a damp cloth after use. You can wash clothes again if the infestation is severe.

Where do the moths come from in my home?

Moth infestation can develop in food stores or textiles at any time, especially in the warm months. This usually happens through shopping that has already been infected or through moths that come in through windows, doors and the smallest cracks in search of food. Second-hand clothing, old carpets or blankets (for example from the flea market) can often cause a moth infestation. We therefore recommend that you buy second-hand clothing such as blankets, pillows, etc. always wash the same. Carpets can also be treated preventively with a neem preparation.
