Maybe you will get an offshoot. Beautiful phlox does not have to cost a lot, there are a number of possibilities for propagation.

Propagate phlox by sowing

Phlox blooms profusely and long and accordingly it produces many seeds. Mostly it sows itself in autumn, so that old plants are automatically replaced by young flame flowers. However, you can also harvest the ripe seeds in autumn. Since phlox seeds need a cold spell to germinate, you can sow the seeds straight into the ground in autumn. If you plan to move the plants forward or do not sow them until spring, you can store the seeds in the refrigerator for at least four weeks beforehand. Plants from seeds that you have collected yourself often have a wide variety of colors. This brings a wonderfully large variety into your garden. If you prefer a certain color, you can either purchase seeds or propagate adult plants by cuttings or division.

Propagate phlox by cuttings

Phlox is easily propagated from cuttings. In spring, cut off a nice shoot before flowering. The cutting should be about six inches in length. For small phlox species, cuttings 5 to 10 centimeters in length are also sufficient. Remove the lower leaves and place the shoot in potting soil mixed with sand. The pot with the cutting should be placed in a warm and light place and the soil should always be kept moist.

tip: Creeping phlox species can also be planted directly in the garden. Gather several cuttings together and plant them in clusters for more abundant growth.

Alternatively, creeping phlox species can use roots to reproduce. You can dig up the plant after flowering and cut off pieces of fleshy roots that are about two inches long. Place this horizontally in a pot and bury it a few inches deep.

Propagate phlox by dividing

Late autumn, winter or early spring are best for sharing. Then the metabolism is reduced and only the roots are left of the tall flame flowers. Dig up the phlox and use a sharp spade to divide it into two or three parts.
