Everyone has probably had the experience of the recently purchased potted basil losing its leaves. You can no longer count on the reproduction of fresh, new leaves. This is no coincidence: the potted herbs are produced within a very short time.

In the summer, it takes just 40 days for the basil to find its way from the seed bag to the store shelves. However, the rapid growth does not make the plants particularly robust. The plants are more susceptible due to the unfamiliar conditions during the stressful transport and then in the new home.

In winter, the transport can be life-threatening for the basil due to the low temperatures. Temperatures below 10 °C should be avoided in any case.
