Indoor plants are a great addition to any room. They ensure a better room climate, are decorative and simply make the apartment more comfortable. Indoor plants are therefore also an absolute must in the bathroom. But not every plant is suitable for transforming the bathroom into a green oasis of well-being. The reason for this is the different site conditions that prevail in many bathrooms: Showering and bathing creates high humidity that not every plant can tolerate. The temperature in the bathroom is often higher than in the rest of the house. But the biggest limitations in the bathroom are the poor lighting conditions - many bathrooms only have a small window that hardly lets in sunlight. 10. mountain palm

You don't have to travel far for maritime flair and holiday feelings - sometimes just stepping into your own bathroom is enough. Especially when here the mountain palm (Chamaedorea elegans) stands: With its elegant, slightly overhanging fronds, the mountain palm is reminiscent of sun, sea and beach. In fact, the exotic visit to the bathroom is relatively easy to care for. The only important thing is regular watering without waterlogging - that's all the mountain palm needs to be happy.

9. orchid

the orchid (Orchidacea) is one of the most demanding, but also one of the most beautiful indoor plants. The orchid is already picky when it comes to location: Most orchid species like a lot of light and warmth, but temperatures below 15 °C do not work at all. High airiness is also popular with the orchid - a window seat in the warm bathroom can therefore definitely meet the high demands of the orchid. Nevertheless, you shouldn't simply move your orchid from the living room to the bathroom, because orchids can react quite sensitively to sudden changes of location. However, if you want to grow a new orchid, the bathroom is definitely a good choice of location.

8. aloe vera

Not only as medicinal plant is the aloe vera (aloe vera) extremely popular. In recent years, the aloe has also attracted more and more people as a houseplant, because it is easy to care for and extremely robust. The plant is particularly suitable for beginners because it is almost impossible to kill. Aloe vera also thrives in the bathroom and does not even have to be watered (depending on how much moisture collects in the bathroom). Of course, aloe vera also has its visual appeal and, with its upright, pointed shoots, fits perfectly into modern interiors.

7. ivy

You only have a small bathroom and therefore no space for a sprawling houseplant? No problem - the ivy (Epipremnum) fits in really every room, because it takes as hanging plant hardly any space left. Nevertheless, the plant can become the centerpiece of your bathroom, because despite its small space requirement, it has a high decorative value. It often has beautiful, multicolored leaves and can reach unbelievable lengths with its shoots.

6. cobbler palm

Resistant, easy to care for and also extremely decorative? If you are looking for these characteristics, you will come to the cobbler palm (Aspidistra elatior) sure to find something. In the past, the shoemaker's palm was often found as a decoration in gloomy shoemakers' workshops, which is why it still bears its unusual name today. But the shoemaker's palm also feels at home in the bathroom, because it grows easily even in the shade.

5. sword fern

It brings wild jungle flair sword fern (Nephrolepis exaltata) directly from the tropical areas into your bathroom. Even if the sword fern cannot score with colorful flowers, it has now established itself as a houseplant. The reason for this is its filigree pinnate leaves, which - together with its dense growth - are becoming a real eye-catcher. Sword ferns are considered difficult to care for indoors, but they are made for the bathroom: none direct Sunlight, high humidity and little draft ensure that the sword fern grows all around feels good.

4. lucky feather

Originally from East Africa, the lucky feather (Zamioculcas zamiifolia) nothing against heat or high humidity. But the evergreen plant is also perfect for the bathroom in other ways. The lucky feather is considered to be extremely robust and frugal and even thrives in the shade without any problems. The plant is also not to be sneezed at visually: with its shiny, dark green leaves and upright growth, the lucky feather is a great eye-catcher.

3. bromeliad

If you don't feel like boring green plants, you should definitely get the bromeliad (bromeliad) take a closer look. With its extravagant appearance and bright colors, the bromeliad is the undisputed star among plants and attracts everyone's attention. Especially the colorful bracts of the plant, which can be found in almost all colors, create a tropical atmosphere. Since the bromeliad is at home in the tropics, it prefers a warm and humid location without direct sunlight - so it almost always feels right at home in the bathroom.

2. tillandsia

Everyone knows them, but nobody knows what they are called: We are talking about tillandsia (Tillandsia). With their extravagant shapes and enormous variety, tillandsias are the perfect ornamental plants and invite you to collect and discover them. The plants are particularly popular as decoration because they have a special property: as so-called "air plants". Tillandsias don't have soil to grow on, just an object to cling to - so they can be thought of as, for example living murals stage spectacularly. The tillandsia absorb water from the air, which is why the high humidity in the bathroom is ideal for them.

The A leaf (Spathiphyllum) has been one of the most popular indoor plants for a long time. No wonder, after all, the plant not only impresses with its appearance, but also with its easy-care nature. In particular, their flowers with the white bract, which elegantly contrasts with the dark green foliage, make the single leaf a stylish feast for the eyes. At the same time, apart from regular watering, the plant requires almost no care and is therefore also suitable for beginners. The single sheet fits particularly well in the bathroom, as it likes both shade and high humidity. In addition, the single leaf offers another advantage: the plant becomes one of the best air-purifying plants counted.
