The apple variety 'Jonagored' comes from Belgium. It was discovered there in 1986 by Mrs. van Morren and is therefore officially called "Van Morren's Jonagored". The 'Jonagored' is a mutation of the well-known 'Jonagolds', but colored much redder. Today even more mutations of 'Jonagold' are grown than the original 'Jonagold', including 'Jonagored'. In the Old Country, 'Jonagored' is one of the most popular varieties in cultivation.
