When is the ideal sowing time?
The seeds should be sown in the fall. Why? Because they are cold germs. That means they need cooler temperatures to be stimulated to germinate. It is best to sow them outdoors in September.

If you forgot to sow in the fall, you can sow the seeds between February and March. In general, if the seeds are sown in autumn, the flowers of the corn radish will appear much earlier in the following year.
Don't wait too long
If you bought the seeds of a corn stalk or collected them yourself, you should not wait too long before sowing them. The seeds of the Corn Rade are only germinable for a few months.
Direct sow the cool germs
That's at the sowing to be observed outdoors:
- Seeds do not need to be preferred
- sow directly outdoors
- distribute widely or stand alone
- rake in slightly (sowing depth: 0.5 to 1 cm)
- sow densely
- prefers sandy soils
- keep moist
- Germination time: 2 to 3 weeks
The perfect location
Corn radishes grow best in full sun. Good neighbors, for example in perennial borders, include ornamental grasses, cranesbills, mallows and borage. The soil should be nutrient-rich and can be dry from time to time after it has established itself. This perennial tolerates drought without problems.
Caution: These seeds are poisonous!
One should not handle the seeds of the Corn Rade carelessly. They are poisonous. They contain saponins, which can lead to symptoms of poisoning. Therefore: Keep the seeds out of the reach of children. Also, be careful not to sow these seeds where there are grazing animals such as cows, sheep, goats, and horses!
tips
Corn stalk seeds have to be sown every year, since corn stalks are annual. But it is not uncommon for the plant to self-seed.
