Underplant lavender with perennials
The perennials you plant under your lavender should be among the small to medium high count copies. Note the growth height and variety of your lavender. If it is a larger lavender, the perennials can also be correspondingly larger. However, it is important that the perennials do not overstretch the lavender and thus rob it of too much light.

Plant lavender with herbs

However, the choice of herb should be yours depending on the respective lavender variety make. Some herbs such as sage are more suitable for planting under higher ones varieties of lavender like the intermedia hybrids.
These herbs have proven themselves as underplanting for lavender and also for covering up bare spots:

- oregano
- thyme
- sacred herb
- marjoram
- tarragon
- curry herb
- hyssop
Underplant lavender with ground covers
Nurture some ground covers similar site requirements like the lavender or at least they can adapt well. They cover the ground and the sometimes desolate branches of the lavender with their foliage and often also abundant flowers. Make sure that the ground cover does not overgrow or even intend to crowd out the lavender. With one or more of the following plants you make the right choice:
- cranesbill
- lady's mantle
- Rock Alyssum
- Upholstery Silver Diamond
- chickweed
- scented stone rich
- sunroses
Plant lavender in balcony boxes or tubs
Since Lavandula also likes for window boxes(€40.00 at Amazon*) or tub is used, an underplanting can also make sense there if it becomes noticeably bare or looks too dreary. Underplanting from the Mediterranean
At first glance, you can't go far wrong with plants that come from regions similar to lavender (Mediterranean). They have similar location requirements. If they are small in stature, the lavender will get along with these as underplanting.
