Hobby gardeners: indoor use Epsom salts as a special plant fertilizer for hydrangeas to avoid a looming magnesium deficiency to prevent An undersupply of the trace element causes yellow leaves with green leaf veins. Epsom salt ensures that hydrangeas have an uninterrupted supply of magnesium, the central building block in leaf green, known in technical jargon as chlorophyll. How to use Epsom Salts as maintenance fertilization:

Concerned hobby gardeners: indoors with a too high pH value of the soil, Epsom salt is useful as a problem solver. Hydrangeas need an acidic pH of around 4.5 for spectacular blue blooms. A pH of around 5.5 is obligatory for pink, red and white flowers. Thus Epsom Salt produces a Hydrangea-friendly soil environment:
- Determine the pH with a test kit.
- Use Epsom salt from a pH value of around 7.
- Dissolve 150 grams of Epsom salt in 10 liters of water and apply to lower the pH by 1 point per square meter.
Tip
Water hydrangeas with rainwater
Conifers are heavy magnesium consumers. Annual maintenance fertilization in spring effectively prevents yellowed needles. Simply sprinkle 50 grams of Epsom salt per square meter, rake in and pour over. Thuja, fir and cypress are already suffering from a yellow needle dress, administer 100 grams of Epsom salt per square meter. Foliar fertilization with a 1 percent Epsom salt solution immediately eliminates the magnesium deficiency.
