How to care for the amaryllis so that it blooms longer?

How often can an amaryllis bloom?

The amaryllis bulb goes through the year in three phases of life and needs different ones Care:
- Growth period (February to September): Cut off the withered flower stalk and place them outside in a shady spot from May. Pour and fertilize until August.
- Dormant period (September to November): Remove the withered leaves and place in a dark and cool place, ideally in the basement. Get them back up from November.
- Flowering period (December to February): It blooms again in a bright and warm place.
How do I extend the shelf life of amaryllis in the vase?
The following tips will help you to keep the amaryllis as a cut flower for as long as possible:
- Add the enclosed nutrient powder to the water.
- The stem end of the bud quickly becomes mushy. With every water change every few days, trim the stem by about an inch. This helps to ensure that the flower is always supplied with sufficient nutrients and water and that it gets more energy to stay fresh for longer.
- You can also reinforce the end with some scotch tape to prevent kinking.

Attention poisonous!
The amaryllis is particularly poisonous in all its parts (flower, leaves, stem and bulb) and can be deadly even in small quantities. Children and pets are especially vulnerable. Therefore, always place your amaryllis out of the reach of endangered people. For your own protection, wear gloves at every maintenance step, especially when cutting or transplanting.
