What characterizes the flowering of the Physalis?
The physalis flowers depending on the species from June to August. Your blossoms are right small and star-shaped as well as yellow with dark spots (Andean berry) or creamy yellow to whitish (lantern flower).
When does the physalis bloom?
In our latitudes, the physalis flowers from June. This is especially true of the Andean berry, the fruits of which are edible. The main flowering time of the second species that is very well known in this country, the lantern flower, is from July to August.
A notice: If the Physalis does not flower, there are usually location and/or maintenance errors behind it.
What do physalis flowers look like?
Physalis flowers are relative small and star-shaped. There are differences in color depending on the species: they present themselves in the case of the Andean berry (Physalis peruviana). yellow with dark spots. In contrast, the flowers of the lantern flower (Physalis alkekengi) appear creamy yellow to whitish and without a pattern.

The flowers are followed by the lanterns with the fruits
After the physalis has bloomed, the sepals grow together to form the characteristic lanterns. In these mature fruit approach, which are only non-toxic and therefore edible with the Andean berry.
