How are ice plant seeds harvested?
Collecting your own ice plant seeds is actually quite simple. You can save a lot of money and choose exactly the plants that you want to propagate as well. To harvest the seeds, leave the desired bloom after the heyday wither and ripen. Collect them seed pods as soon as theydried offare preferably on a dry day. This will prevent the seeds from getting moldy. Store them as cool as possible, but frost-free, dark and dry until sowing next spring.

You can use your own seeds for sowing in the spring. You can already get your seeds grow in small pots from March. Sow 5 seeds in each small pot of regular potting soil, which you ideally mix with sand to make the soil more permeable. Cover the seeds only lightly with soil. You can also use ice flowers about cuttings in spring or autumn multiply. To do this, use a clean knife to cut off parts of the shoot tips from selected mother plants that are about eight to ten centimeters long. Put them in nutrient-poor soil and press them down lightly. The cuttings now need a sheltered location with as little direct sunlight as possible and very little water. If you recognize new growth at the tips of the shoots, roots have formed. Now the plants can be transplanted.

Choosing the plants you want to harvest seeds from is extremely important. You should basically only choose healthy, strong plants for propagation that meet your needs. For example, you can select flower color by collecting seeds of just one color.
