American cone bugs

The American cone bug is called Leptoglossus occidentalis in botany and originally comes from North America. This type of bug is relatively large, very distinctive and can be recognized quickly by certain characteristics. It was only introduced into this country about ten years ago. However, it has already spread widely and lives in the local conifers, especially in the pine trees. Although the American cone bug is also harmless, it attracts other conspecifics with its fragrances. Because of this, there can be gatherings in large groups in autumn preparing for winter.

Gray garden bugs

Gray garden bugs have the botanical name Rhaphigaster nebulosa and are also known as field bugs. Colloquially, this type of bug is also known as the large edge bug or hem bug due to the wide edges of its wings. When sucking the plants, the insects inject poisonous saliva into the targeted area. Very young plant shoots in particular can die from this, which is why a large number of leather bugs are perceived as pests.

frequently asked Questions

Do the same types of bugs occur every year?

Depending on the prevailing weather conditions and the respective region, other types of bedbugs can fly into the living quarters every year. There are also many invasive species from distant countries that can appear surprisingly and settle down firmly.

Why do the types of bugs secrete a stinking secretion?

While certain types of bedbugs can become very annoying in the fall, they are not classified as pests. The stink bugs owe their bad obituary to their habit of spraying a foul-smelling secretion when threatened. In this way, the insects successfully drive away dangerous predators and spoil their appetite.

What should be considered when dealing with the stink bugs?

Because of the stinking secretion, the insects should never be touched or crushed with bare hands. The corrosive smell of body excretion is very difficult to remove; it sticks to surfaces for a long time, especially to wallpapers or carpets.

How to get rid of the flying stink bugs

It is best to pick up the stray insects with gloves or sweep them up with a dustpan and hand brush. Then release the specimens outside again, but not near the windows or doors.

What measures will help prevent bedbugs?

When the different types of bugs are out, the windows and doors should be kept closed. Examine house walls for any cracks and crevices, seal carefully if necessary. To prevent the annoying animals from entering the living space, the installation of insect screens has proven its worth.
