Painting garden furniture - step by step

First sand down the wood

Simply painting over the garden furniture is not advisable. The paint would quickly peel off again. First of all, you have to completely remove the old paint. You can do this with a wire brush or Sandpaper use. A spatula will help with stubborn paint stains.

Then vacuum off all dirt particles and rub the wood clean with a dry microfiber cloth.

Prime wooden garden furniture

Applying a primer ensures that the wood surface is nice and smooth. Then the color will hold better later and you will not have to repaint the garden furniture every year.

The primer is applied with a brush. If possible, only stroke in one direction.

The piece of furniture must then dry well for several hours. Put it in a place where it is safe from use and where it is also protected from leaves, dust and other debris.

How to paint your garden furniture correctly

You can only repaint the wood when the garden chair or garden table is completely dry. Apply the wood varnish evenly with a brush.

In the case of very strongly absorbent types of wood, it may be necessary to apply a second layer of varnish. To do this, you have to treat the furniture again with some sandpaper when it is completely dry and then paint it again.

Do not put the garden furniture in the designated place until the paint is completely dry. Make sure that the furniture is not used beforehand. Wood varnish is difficult to remove from clothing.
