Water garden tulips moderately

In the fresh soil of the garden, watering on tulips is rarely necessary. During the flowering period in spring, the natural rainfall usually covers the demand. The supplementary administration of water is only necessary if the soil is visibly dry. In summer, the need for watering is also reduced. How to do it right:

  • If there is no rain, press a finger 1-2 cm deep into the ground
  • If necessary, pour the water from the jug nozzle directly onto the ground
  • As soon as no more moisture is absorbed, stop watering

Thrive the Tulips in the pot and balcony box, proceed similarly. Here the water requirement is met when the first drops run out of the opening in the floor.

Pour more water into the vase instead of exchanging it

In contrast to their fellows in the garden, tulips in the vase prove to be extremely thirsty. The water level sinks visibly within a few days. Although the color becomes cloudy at the same time, experts advise against a complete exchange of the water. The nutrients in it drive growth so intensely that the shelf life of the cut flowers is shortened. So please pour fresh water and do not change it completely.

Tips

In the vase Tulips stay crisp and fresh longer if you trim the stem ends regularly. If the fabric turns brown, take the flower out of the water for a moment. With a sharp knife cut off at least 1 cm, maximum 5 cm. Bonded conduction paths are exposed so that water and nutrients can be transported to the flower unhindered.
