The right moment

Chinese cabbage is planted at the end of July, or at the latest at the beginning of August, as a secondary crop after new potatoes, early peas or strawberries.

You grow the young plants yourself from seeds or buy them ready-made.

Right location

Chinese cabbage prefers a sheltered, sunny or partially shaded location. Since it is a heavy eater, it is advisable to dig up the bed beforehand with compost or manure. French beans, peas, lettuce, spinach and carrots ensure a beneficial coexistence in the bed.

A little maintenance

Tips & Tricks

Those who plant Chinese cabbage in the garden must note that cabbage beds have to rest for 2 to 3 years before they can be planted with cabbage again. So content yourself with 5-10 plants, then no crop rotation plan is necessary.
