Wintering depending on the species
In particular, the bluebells native to the Mediterranean countries tolerate frosty temperatures poor and should therefore be provided with appropriate winter protection in winter. This can consist, for example, of a thick layer of fir or spruce branches. Some actually perennial respectively. However, naturally annual varieties do not need to be overwintered, as they can be re-sown every year. Pot bluebells, on the other hand, should always overwinter frost-free, but in a cool and dark place. The temperature is ideally a maximum of 10 ° C. If the winter is mild, the balcony bluebells can also be hibernated outside, but should be brought inside as soon as the temperatures drop well below 0 ° C.
Tips & Tricks
If you cannot spend the winter in the house (e.g. B. a sufficiently cool room). then place the tub bluebells on a piece of styrofoam and place them on a warm house wall. You can also wrap the pots and plants in a warming material (e. B. Bast mats).
