When the apricots slowly gained a foothold in Europe many centuries ago, they were stored in cool cellars after the harvest. Today most cellars no longer meet these requirements. Alternatively, there is the option of storing fruit in the lowest compartment of the refrigerator.

After the apricot harvest, this can be a great way to add the tasty ones fruit to be consumed gradually. Apricots can hardly be stored, but staying in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days is acceptable. The ideal temperature is 2 to a maximum of 5 degrees Celsius.

Apricots ripen for another 1 to 3 days at room temperature, depending on the variety. These fruits can be stored directly in the kitchen with a clear conscience. On particularly warm days, these are a draw for fruit flies. Simply sprinkle a lemon with Cloves. In the vicinity of fruit, the natural home remedy repels the small blackheads.
Just before consumption
The sweet fruits have an intense aroma. Every variety has its own charm. To allow this aromatic note to develop, always take apricots out of the refrigerator 1 to 2 hours before consumption. Put in a shallow bowl to avoid pressure points.
Warning: water
Moist apricots spoil faster. Wash the fruits just before they are ready to eat. If harvested apricots are a little damp, they must be allowed to air dry before storage. You can spend about 1 to 2 hours in a shady spot in the garden.
Tips & Tricks
