It is better to plant in a tub
Since the acacia likes to stand alone, it is advisable to keep it in a bucket. Especially since digging out would be very cumbersome when frost is approaching. After all, the deciduous tree requires wintering in the house. Planted in a pot, moving in the cold season is easier due to the better mobility.
Demands on the bucket
- Sufficient volume (about twice, or even better, three times the size of the root ball)
- Drainage so that irrigation and rainwater can drain away
- Opening at the bottom to ventilate the roots
- Do not use conventional peat soil
- Substrate instead with coconut fiber or Lava granules(€ 14.00 at Amazon *) enrich
Winter in the bucket
Bring your acacia into the house before the first frost to prevent it from perishing. Various locations are suitable here, but they all have advantages and disadvantages:
- dark and cool at 0-5 ° C (acacia sheds its foliage)
- bright and sunny at 10-15 ° C (temperatures that are too warm also lead to leaf loss)
- ideally high humidity (50% ascending)
