If the ideal temperature values cannot be maintained, this does not mean the end of this aquatic plant. The Java fern is surprisingly tolerant in this regard.
Tips
The Java fern needs a constant supply of CO2. The easiest way to do this is to change some of the water regularly.
Untying
A Java fern is not allowed on the bottom of the pool in sand or gravel plant. The laterally growing rhizome does not tolerate burying, instead it has to be washed around with water.
Therefore, the first step in care is the so-called Untying a newly acquired plant. If you have Java fern from small offshoots multiply, they too must be tied up in due course.
Place the Java fern on a stone, root or something similar. Ä and tie it to it with fishing line or sewing thread until it can hold on with its own adhesive roots. The thread can then be removed again so as not to be visually impaired.
Light supply
A lamp in the aquarium supplies the plants living in it with light. The Java fern also needs light, but it doesn't like it too bright. Therefore, it must be placed in the shady or at least partially shaded area.
Fertilize
No special fertilizer is necessary, occasional iron additions are sufficient. If it has too little of this element, black spots appear on the leaves. Then the undersupply must be compensated for with new fertilizer.
However, if the small black spots are round and have a diameter of about 2mm, it could be spore beds.
Clean out Java fern
Leaves age and die. They then have no place in a well-kept aquarium. Remove them from the water promptly
